This package include TWO Lifegard Aquatics 50 Watt Adjustable Quartz Glass Aquarium Heaters for a total of 100 watts. Why would you want TWO 50 watt heaters instead of one 100 watt heater? Using more than one heater is advisable because heaters can fail, and having a second heater in the tank will keep your tank temperature from fluctuating wildly if one heater fails. Heater failure can either be one heater not turning off or one heater not turning on.
Both are a problem, but usually a heater not turning off is a bigger problem, as it results in the tank overheating. If you have two 50 watt heaters, and one does not turn off, then the other should not turn on and your tank should not overheat. If, on the other hand, you just had one 100 watt heater and it didn't turn off, that could spell disaster. If one heater does not turn on, you will still have one heater working—which should be enough to avert a disaster.
In this package we also include a thermometer and a towel. The thermometer sticks to the outside of the glass. It’s a very simple thermometer, but it has no battery or calibration to worry about, and the numbers are large and easy to read. The MarineAndReef.com Aquarium Cleaning Towel is a durable, lint-free microfiber towel. 19" X 15".
