AquaticLife Twist-In Compact 4-Stage RO/DI Unit - Product Spotlight

More often than not, your local fish store will be selling RO water. They need the water for the shop, and will already carry everything they need to keep their own RO system up and running. Although this might not always be a viable option for everyone. Some aquarists need a lot of water, or simply don’t want to transport it home, and are interested in making their own RO water.

As a reef geek, I love high-performance RO systems with multiple DI stages, multiple carbon blocks, dual membranes, pressure gauges, TDS meters, automatic flush systems, and booster pumps. However, my experience is that most beginners are highly intimidated by these features. Some aquarists are even intimidated by hooking up any RO system to their plumbing and are terrified of leaks. For its ease of use and peace of mind, The AquaticLife Twist-In Compact 4-Stage RO/DI Unit is my go-to system to recommend for everyone, but especially those who fall under that category.

Easy To Change Cartridges

The most unique feature of the AquaticLife Twist-In RO/DI system is the twist-in cartridges. These cartridges simply twist in and out by hand without the need for an RO wrench. The cartridge heads automatically seal when the cartridges are removed, so you do not even need to turn off the water to remove the cartridges. Additionally, the cartridges swing out from the bracket—making them even easier to access.

Easy To Understand Instructions

Unlike many brands that assume you know how to use an RO system, AquaticLife has detailed instructions and diagrams showing how to install their RO unit, and they also have plenty of available videos showing the installation as well. Another one of my favorite features is the replacement cartridges have a dedicated blank on the label to write the date the cartridge was installed and the recommended replacement interval printed right next to it—making it much easier for you to remember when to replace your cartridges.

Less Likely To Leak

If you are worried about leaks, then the Twist-In RO is likely as leak-safe an RO as you can get. The cartridge head is self-sealing, which makes it impossible to remove a cartridge and forget to turn off the water. The o-rings are installed on the new cartridges so you don’t have to worry about canister o-rings wearing out and causing leaks over time. Additionally, all of the tubing connections come with locking clips for extra secure connections.

Plumbing Included

Almost everyone I know installs their RO unit below a sink or in a laundry room. Yet, many manufacturers include none of the plumbing needed for installation. AquaticLife includes a drain saddle, under-sink supply adapter, garden hose adapter, and faucet adapter. Most people will need minimal or no additional plumbing to install these RO units.

Easy To Add Accessories

If you want some more features to your RO system, AquaticLife has a Float Valve Kit with an auto shut-off that is very affordable and an easy-to-install Booster Pump with automatic flush and automatic pressure limits. You can also purchase cartridge head brackets to mount additional cartridges to upgrade the system to a dual carbon block or dual DI system.
